As a recognised thought leader in South Africa’s insurance sector, Steve regularly contributes to major industry events. In March 2025, he led discussions at InsureTalk50, emphasising the protective role of professional indemnity insurance and advocating for proactive risk communication and strong client engagement. He warned of emerging threats like AI fuelled fraud and championed embedding compliance in business culture.

Steve has been outspoken on the evolving role of Underwriting Management Agencies (UMAs). He challenges the industry to clarify regulatory roles, embrace innovation, and maintain human-centric service even as technology and AI reshapes risk landscapes.

In previous roles, including leadership at Glenrand M.I.B, Steve honed his governance expertise, rising through the ranks from 1983 until his departure in 2006.
